Information is a funny thing. It is a thin line between being well informed, having just enough information to be dangerous, and having too much information and not knowing what to do with it. Then when you factor in not knowing which information you can trust, it can feel completely overwhelming. I guess that elusive “Wisdom” is the key. It can filter what information comes in and from where, help you become aware of when it’s time to take a break from consumption , and help you to be more discerning of its source.

When is there ever a time in our lives when our actions, our words, even our thoughts won’t have a direct impact on the world around us. Never. Even when it involves a one on one interaction, the effects can ripple out beyond where we can see or comprehend. Everything we do in this life is a constant reminder that we are all part of a much larger whole, that we are all threads in an infinitely expansive tapestry that connects everyone and everything. We see it in the treatment and mistreatment of our fellow human beings, we see it in the way we misuse and abuse nature, we see it in the way many of us mentally, physically and spiritually disrespect ourselves, which frequently is the ripple effect of past mistreatment by others. How can we become aware, become mindful enough that we insert a much needed pause in our present moment, to think before we speak and act, to utilize that filter between our minds and our bodies and mouths. Is it possible in these highly charged, volatile and polarized times?
